Left Right

Cartoon of child sneezingThere has been a number of confirmed cases of Influenza A, Strep throat, and Viral Gastroenteritis (stomach flu) through our doctors’ clinics. These illnesses are very contagious.

If your child is having a combination of any of the symptoms listed below we are asking that you please NOT send them to school.

  • Fever (high or low grade)-students may only return after they have been fever free for 24 hours WITHOUT giving Tylenol or Motrin
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Body aches
  • Vomiting or Diarrhea

Most of these illnesses may be treated at home with Tylenol, Motrin, fluids, and rest. Children can also be seen by their primary care providers for any symptoms. The only way we will keep our schools healthy is keeping sick students home.

These are a few tips to help your family stay healthy

  • Get your flu shot!
  • Try to avoid close contact with sick people
  • While sick, limit contact with others as much as possible to keep from infecting them.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Germs spread this way.

Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that may be contaminated with germs like the flu.
