Howdy Perryton Rangers & PJH Raiders,
As the new principal for Perryton Junior High, I'd like to share a little bit about myself. I am originally from El Paso, TX, and the last nine years of my career have been spent in Presidio, TX as an early college high school principal for three years, an administrative assistant for one, and prior to that I taught English I, English II, and English 1301/1302. I am moving to Perryton with my wife Callie, my 10 year-old Elijah, my 3 year-old Daniel, and our 9 month-old Thea. My undergraduate years were spent at Texas A&M, but familial obligations took me back to University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), where I graduated cum laude as a English & American literature major with a minor in inter-American Jewish studies. My master's is also in English & American literature from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin (UTPB), and both my principal and superintendent certifications were likewise earned at UTPB. Currently I am working on an Ed.D in curriculum and instruction with Texas A&M.
As an educational leader I hope to instill a heart of service on my campus. Leadership for me is one that must be modeled, and there is no job too big or too small that is above or below what I am willing to do. For my students, I expect them to be respectful above all else. For my teachers, I am looking forward to them coming together as a team to challenge themselves in curriculum alignment and finding ways to reach all their children. For the community I am asking for you all to get involved in the campus, and help guide us to excellence.
Looking forward to a great year,
PJH Principal Dimitri D. Garcia
