Thursday afternoon (11/17) the Perryton Junior High Robotics Team received a check for $5,278.80 from Phillips 66, Mid-Continent Region. Representatives from Phillips 66 were on hand to observe the PJH W.O.T. (Wizard’s of Technology) Team in action and then to present the check. During the presentation, PJH Robotics instructor, Sandy Woods and her co-teacher Angela Eylar explained the program and its educational benefits.
Robotics gives our students a head start on careers in engineering, programming, and a variety of other STEM fields. In just its first year of operation, the PJH program has exploded and will help to expand the program at Perryton High School as well.
The donation from Phillips 66 will help fund the group as they plan to compete against other schools in the region in the spring.
PISD Superintendent James Mireles accepted the donation.
